Abby De la Rocha serves as Volunteer & Marketing Coordinator for Sawgrass Nature Center & Wildlife Hospital, where she plays a vital role in advancing the organization's mission of wildlife rehabilitation, environmental education, and community engagement. She leads volunteer recruitment, retention, training, and recognition efforts, helping cultivate a dedicated team that supports the Center's daily operations and programs. Abby developed and launched the Center's Summer Docent Program, empowering high school students to build leadership, public speaking, and environmental education skills while serving as ambassadors for wildlife conservation. She is also responsible for grant writing and management, helping secure critical funding to support educational initiatives, wildlife care, and organizational growth. In addition to overseeing volunteer programs, Abby manages the Center's marketing and communications efforts, including social media, newsletters, donor engagement, and membership outreach. She plans and executes major fundraising events such as Orchid Fest, the Annual Gala, and year-end giving campaigns, while analyzing donor and event data to identify trends, assess community needs, and develop targeted engagement strategies. Passionate about connecting people with nature, Abby works closely with local schools, nonprofits, and community organizations, including Arc Broward and Lighthouse of Broward, to expand educational opportunities and community impact. Through her leadership, creativity, and dedication, she helps inspire the next generation of conservation advocates while strengthening support for South Florida's native wildlife.
