At Sawgrass Nature Center & Wildlife Hospital, education is central to our mission.

Our educational programs are designed to inspire curiosity, encourage respect for wildlife, and empower people of all ages to become stewards of the natural world.


Through hands-on experiences, interactive presentations, and opportunities to learn about native Florida wildlife, participants gain a deeper understanding of ecosystems and the importance of conservation.

Educational Program Options

On-Site Programs at Sawgrass Nature Center

Groups can visit the nature center for an immersive learning experience. During an on-site program, participants explore our outdoor exhibits and learn about wildlife rehabilitation, conservation, and native
ecosystems.

Programs may include:

  • Wildlife ambassador animal encounters
  • Guided tours of exhibits and habitats
  • Educational presentations about wildlife rehabilitation 
  • Hands-on learning experiences focused on ecosystems and conservation

 

On-site programs provide a memorable way for groups of adults or children to connect with nature while team building or expanding knowledge of our native ecosystem.

School Field Trips

Field trips to Sawgrass Nature Center provide students with a unique opportunity to learn about wildlife conservation, ecosystems, and environmental responsibility in an outdoor setting.


During their visit, students may:

  • Meet resident wildlife ambassador animals
  • Learn about injured wildlife and rehabilitation efforts
  • Explore outdoor exhibits and natural habitats

Outreach Programs (We Come to You)

Sawgrass Nature Center also offers outreach programs, where our educators bring wildlife education directly to your
school, camp, library, or community organization.

These engaging presentations introduce participants to native wildlife and conservation topics through interactive
discussions and educational materials.

Programs by Group Type

Early Elementary

Introduction to wildlife, animal adaptations, and habitats.

Middle School (Grades 6–8)

Human impact on wildlife, environmental science, and conservation strategies.

Upper Elementary (Grades 3–5)

High School (Grades 9–12)

Wildlife rehabilitation, environmental stewardship and career pathways in conservation.
